East Hills Middle School is one of those schools that got it bad from mold. 28 of its classrooms were mold-infested with the damages mostly directed to their desks and armchairs.

According to Mark Stein, Bethlehem Area School District director of facilities and operations, the mold in the school was discovered on August 13. To clear it, the school board decided to hire an exterminator for a mold remediation that would cost not more than $80,000.
Parents were informed about East Hills’ predicament on August 16 via letter. Updates were also posted on the schools website. Meanwhile, the treatment of the affected classrooms was implemented from the same day through Sunday.

But though the treatment already reduced the mold levels inside the classrooms, they were scheduled for a re-cleaning on Tuesday to lower even more the residual mold. A post from the district website stated that it was a precautionary measure.
