Mold Presence Shut Down Okee Schoolhouse

Wisconsin’s Okee Schoolhouse in Lodi was shut down on Monday. The reason was mold presence.

The building is owned by the town of Lodi and is being used by the Boy Scout. Other organizations hold meetings in there as well in regular basis.

Lately though, there have been several complaints of people getting sick in the building. And last week, a testing confirmed that the fungus was the one causing it. It was believed to be nesting in its furnace filter and crawl space.

April Goeske, town clerk, relayed that the mold in the structure was found to be non-toxic. However, the severity of its presence was still being discovered, and so was the time it would take to completely get rid of it.

But atlhough non-toxic, mold exposure could still cause health risks. And so, to protect the people, it was decided that the building would be closed said town chairman Bob Collins though, until more details are discovered about the problem, the schoolhouse would be closed for an indefinite time.
