It was said that it was in September when the critters were first noticed in the campus. The discovery of them reportedly led to the resignation of about 100 of its students. However, the district denied that there was any infestation in the school.

Last October 21 and 22 though, it was confirmed that the crawlies were again sighted in Newark High School. They were found hanging on the backpacks of two students. And needless to say, it worried the parents. A mother, Kathy Baker, even shared that because of it, her daughter wants to be home schooled instead.

Meanwhile, to eliminate the pests, school officials were working with the Licking County Health Department. But to protect the health of the students, no chemical spray was said used in any of the treatments implemented.

“Tiny invaders have become a big problem for Newark High students and parents as bed bugs continue to plague the school.
An estimated 100 students left the school in September, when the pests first made their presence felt.
“She wants to be home schooled,” Kathy Baker said of her daughter. “She’s been begging me and begging me to home school her.”
