Bed bugs are becoming a real pain to firehouses. Recently, they were found in the bunks of yet another fire station in Ohio – that of Whitehall.
The presence of those pesky insects was discovered last Friday after firefighters showed up for a roll call with bed bug bites all over.

Promptly acting to it, Whitehall’s Division of Fire then relocated the station’s sleeping quarters to the building’s basement. Moreover, a bed bug prevention plan was developed, along with the dissemination of the incident to the public.
To prevent the repeat of the infestation and the spread of the critters to houses that firefighters might serve, it was said that they may wear plastic boot covers and their medical kits might be bagged to prevent the pests from hiding in them. Additionally, they may also decontaminate their shoes and clothing after going in places likely to have the pests.

This isn’t the first time for a fire house in Ohio to be infested by the pesky insects. In August 2012, they also troubled three fire stations in Columbus. That caused the city’s Division of Fire to trash the infested furniture and to use mattress covers from then on.
