A single bed bug is still a bed bug. And if it happened to be carrying eggs, it could start an infestation by itself. That is why when one of those vampire-like critters was found in Bullock School, officials were quick to take steps.
The bug was found in the afternoon of October 11, 2013. Particularly, it was seen in one of the school’s classrooms. However, in a letter sent to parents on Friday, the principal, Nami Kuwabara, denied that there was an infestation in the campus. Nevertheless, she said that there may be future sightings of the pests in the building.
To make sure that there is indeed no infestation, it was stated in the letter that a specialist conducted an inspection in the classroom where the insect was found. And as said, there was no evidence of an infestation in it.
Apart from that inspection, it was said the school’s Building and Grounds Department will also continue to work on identifying the pests. As added, they will also have a licensed specialist conduct a thorough inspection and a treatment if needed.

“This afternoon, we found a (1) confirmed bed bug in a classroom. Bed bugs are a nuisance, but they are not known to cause or spread disease. They are usually active at night when they feed on blood. The bite is initially painless, but it may become swollen and itch, much like a mosquito bite. I have attached photos for your reference. If you have concerns for you or your child, you should call your doctor.”

One of thing that makes bed bugs some of the most terrible pests that you ever have to deal with is the fact that they are quick to spread. And what’s worse is that a single bed bug could start all of it. So, just as the Bullock School did, you must respond quickly to any bed bug sighting.
