On the same day the pests were first detected, an exterminator was said called in to take care of the problem. However, during the follow-up inspection done for the whole building, a number of them were still found in BSN 111. The same thing happened on another inspection on September 17. But worse, that time, the pests were discovered in BSN 115, 118 and 120. They were promptly closed and treated the next morning.
But that wasn’t the end of the bed bug treatment. In the hope that it would be the last elimination needed, a bed bug extermination was also implemented on the entire Business Administration building on Friday. All classrooms were closed over the weekend for the process, although, it was specified that the bugs were only found on plush desk chairs of the identified rooms.
The building was scheduled to re-open on Monday.

Beverly Douglas, interim director of USF’s Environmental Health and Safety, said the treatment will hopefully be the final step of treatments for the bedbugs, which were first detected in the building in August.
The initial concern, Douglas said, was reported when a student was bitten in August in BSN 118. An exterminator came the same day to treat the room, after no presence of live bugs was detected.”
