Last week, heavy rains hit Colorado. It was soaked in a massive amount of rainfall that the National Weather Service even described the downpour as “biblical.”
As its result, most of the state was flooded. In figures, 17 of its counties were badly affected, 16,101 homes were damaged and worse, 7 people were reported killed as of Friday.
But even though the water is now receding, the disaster isn’t yet over. Flood victims were particularly warned of the looming mold problems. If you are one them, be sure to take proper precautions for your mold treatment.

Mold is a big threat to people with sensitive respiratory systems as children and elders. But even those with good physical condition could also be threatened by severe mold exposure. And so, be sure to completely get rid of mold.
However, Dr. Connie Price at Denver Health stated that mold spores could grow anywhere. Although, you would usually see them in the basement after flooding, it’s not the only place that they could invade. As she said, the fungus could also take root on upholstery, carpet, carpet pads, plaster, drywall and ceiling tiles.

Dr. Connie Price at Denver Health says, while you’d normally expect to find mold in a basement because this flooding was so extensive, it could be growing almost anywhere. This includes upholstery, carpet, carpet pads, plaster, drywall and ceiling tiles. The basic rule of thumb is this: if a material is porous and was wet for more than 48 hours, you need to throw it away.”
