Basically, Selborne House is an apartment complex intended for the elders aging 55 and above. But though it’s still new as said by one of its residences named Pearlie Pitt, she added that it had gone downhill.
In a Laurel City Council meeting held last September 09, 2013, Pitt and another resident Charline Taylor complained about a number of issues in the apartment complex. Bed bugs are among those things.
As a response to the bed bug complaint, the housing’s management then implemented a three-round bed bug treatment, with the first one already done. However, it was said that only the infested units were treated and Taylor disapproved of it. According to her, the treatment should have covered the whole building given that the residents of it are people with physical inhibitions.

“At the Laurel City Council meeting Monday, Sept. 9, two residents from Selborne House, an apartment complex on Main Street for seniors age 55 and older, cited multiple issues with the residence, including a bed bug infestation and alleged drug use in the building.
The testimony was the latest in a series of concerns Selborne residents have shared with Laurel’s elected officials, as well as officials from District 21’s state delegation.”
