The prevalence of bed bugs has reached New Hampshire. And so to fight them, the city’s landlords and tenants teamed up for a new law.
As their joining of forces indicates, the new bill specifically aims to eliminate the tiny vampire-like critters in rental housing. It set the responsibilities of both of them in dealing with the infestation of the crawlies.

Particularly though, the law asks the tenants to notify their landlords if presence of bed bugs is detected in their units. On the other hand, it requires the landlords to resolve the problem within seven days after being informed. If he or she fails to do so, the tenant could request a judge to order a bed bug treatment, If it’s him or her who brought the critters though, he or she could be required to pay to shoulder the expenses of the bed bug elimination process.

This law was said to have taken effect on New Year’s Day.

“New Hampshire landlords and tenants are teaming up in a new law aimed at eradicating infestations of the tiny, blood-sucking bed bug from rental housing.
The law takes effect Jan. 1 and outlines responsibilities landlords and tenants have in dealing with bed bug infestations. The two groups worked together this year on legislation setting protocols in place so quick action would be taken to deal with the insects that leave telltale red bite marks on their victims.”
