Roaches were found at South Swell Donuts at 31660 S. Coast Highway in Laguna Beach. And because allowing their presence in any food establishment is a health violation, the store was shut down last week.
On October 31, an inspection discovered that live cockroaches were crawling over the store’s food equipments. They were also found in its 3-compartment sink and “non-operational” slicer.” Besides that, some dead roaches were found as well within the facility.

In total, there were three major health violations that the establishment committed according to the inspection report by the county health officials. More than that, they were also charged of five more minor health violations.
Until all the cockroaches were eliminated, the store was not allowed to reopen.

“County health officials closed South Swell Donuts in Laguna Beach last week, after finding cockroaches near the cooking equipment and other areas of the facility.
During a routine inspection on Oct. 31, South Swell Donuts was cited with three major health violations and five minor health violations.
Numerous live cockroaches were seen at the donut shop “mostly around the cooking equipment, the 3-compartment sink, and the “non-operational” slicer,” according to a county inspection report. “Numerous dead roaches” were also found at the facility.”
