Roaches bring with them bacteria and germs. And those could cause you and your family various diseases. Given that, it is a must to prevent cockroaches. Or, in the case that they are already in your place, it is a must to get them eliminated.
However, if you choose to kill roaches by yourself, know that baits for them are no longer a big help. A study conducted by a North Carolina State University on Floridian cockroaches discovered that those products are not attractive anymore to the said insects. Hence, it’s better for you to get another type of solution for cockroach elimination.
It was said that over the years, the tastes of some roaches evolved. One of their favorite foods, glucose, don’t appeal to them anymore. So, the conventional baits that use it are no longer effective.
Nonetheless, University of Florida’s professor Roberto Pereira cleared that those insects did not develop resistance to poison. Rather, they just adopted a behavior that prevents them from consuming insecticides that could be fatal on them. And that behavior is characterized by their aversion to baits.

With this new discovery about cockroaches, indeed, it’s better not to rely on baits for their elimination. But though insecticides could still work on them, that doesn’t mean you should instead go for any of them. Most of the pesticides these days contain chemicals that are harmful to health and the environment.
