According to allergists, the repeated rainfalls this summer increased mold. And as a result, people who are allergic to its spores are suffering more.
The recent downpours increased the ground humidity said Dr. David Redding with Piedmont Atlanta Hospital. That, he stated, made the organic matter in the soil become wetter creating an ideal environment for mold. And that, he added, prompted the release of more spores in the air.
So far, the mold spores were measured to be at 41 inches this summer. That was more than a 100% increase from 20 inches last year.
