The recent Oklahoma tornado destroyed thousands of homes. Worse, it took the lives of 24 people and left hundreds injured.
To help its victims recover from the devastation, a number of music artists held a concert in Chesapeake Arena last week. It was said that tickets for the said benefit concert sold out just minutes after it was put on sale.

Performers like Reba McEntire, Ryan Tedder of the band OneRepublic and Miranda Lambert joined the concert. And for its closing act, Oklahoma-born Blake Shelton and R&B singer Usher sang Michael Bubble’s “Home.”
Here is a part of a report about the benefit concert from reuters.com.
“Tickets for the “Healing in the Heartland” concert, held at Oklahoma City’s roughly 20,000-capacity Chesapeake Arena and broadcast on NBC television, sold out in minutes when they went on sale on Saturday.
It closed with a duet between Oklahoma-born country singer Blake Shelton, who is a judge on NBC singing competition “The Voice,” and Grammy winning R&B star Usher. They sang “Home”, co-written and recorded by crooner Michael Buble.”
Events as the said benefit concert are surely a big help to the twister-affected Oklahoma residents. And those people who are generous enough to share whatever they can should be appreciated.
But despite all the financial aid they could get, it is inevitable for the victims to work on their own to recover. After all recovery is not just about re-acquiring every material thing there was before the disaster. It’s also about accepting what happened, getting back the pieces left and moving forward.
Usually, that “getting back the pieces” part needs to be literally done. That’s because apart from the fact that it helps with the clean-up, it allows one to recover things with emotional value.

However, if you are one of the Oklahoma tornado victims, you should be careful when salvaging items. You must keenly sort which ones are still worth salvaging and which ones are better off thrown. The reason is that some other items, especially those soaked in flood or just the rain, could be badly contaminated with mold. And besides causing you health problems, those things could also have you spending big for mold treatment without any promise of restoration.
In the case of items though that are moldy but you’re sure could still be saved, you could get the help of Molderizer and Safe Shield. With them, you could effectively get rid of mold in the pieces and protect them from its return without exposing yourself and the others to harmful chemical ingredients.
But before we go into the details of mold removal with those products, first let’s go over the steps of safely salvaging items based on a mooreamerican.com post.
- Wear Protective Clothing. That includes mask, gloves and protective shoes.

- Wash washable items as soon as possible and rinse them several times. Use the longest wash cycle and dry them in the highest temperature allowed for the fabric they are made of. For the stained ones, you may need to use bleach but make sure you to add only the right amount labeled in the product container or tags of the items to wash.
- Bring non-washable items to a dry cleaner asap. After getting them back, remove any remaining soil by shaking or brushing them.
- Clean savable furniture pieces either by yourself or with professional help. If mold is the problem in the item and you choose to clean it yourself, Molderizer and Safe Shield could always give you a hand in restoring it.

- To get back appliances to working, it’s best to have them professionally repaired.
- Save important documents by placing absorbent paper towels between pages. However, don’t let them dry in warm areas. Moisture and warmth provide mold an ideal environment to grow. And with the health problems that its presence could bring, you would not want it growing in them.
