Good news – Florida will get $6 million funding for disease-control and pest-eradication. Bad news – it was not specified if any of it would be used to fight bed bugs.

According to a report, the said federal funding would be used particularly on eliminating the pests that threaten Florida’s agriculture. The said amount is coming from the federal Farm Bill as said by Adam Putnam, the Agriculture Commissioner, in a statement on Friday.

Specifically, the said amount targets the eradication of the Giant African Land Snails. It would also help pay for the detector dog teams and citrus research, avocado protection and a honey bee survey. Additionally, part of it would be spent on a program that heeds people not to bring harmful diseases and insects in Florida. It’s called the “Traveler’s Don’t Pack a Pest Outreach Program.”

Pests could bring in so many problems. That’s given. Because of that, it’s just right to get rid of them. And this funding that Florida is going to get is sure a big help to free the state from their presence and to boost its economy.
However, apart from the agricultural pests, the funding should have also included the elimination of the blood-fed bed bugs. With the number of bed bug infestations increasing across the country, something must be done to prevent their further spread.

But with or without help from the government, you must take steps to protect yourself and your family from bed bugs. One thing that you could do is to have a Bed Bug Bully prepared. Being a pesticide-exempt bed bug spray, it could help you kill bed bugs effectively, promptly and safely. Many pest-control companies, hotel managers and house owners have already proven that true.
