The University of Oklahoma Housing and Food Services is facing a financial problem. No thanks to their pest control expenses, it was reported that they would likely surpass their yearly budget.
According to the news, OU Housing and Food got an amount of $119,000 to spend for pest control around the campus. That’s the budget every year from October to September. However, at this early, from October of last year, $60,000 of the said budget was already spent. Because of that, Housing and Food director Dave Annis said that the department was likely to spend more than the designated amount this year.
The big spending was basically brought by the monthly treatment on the facilities. That includes the student housings, dining facilities, residence hall basements and main floors. And among the pests the campus has to be treated for are spiders, roaches, mice and bed bugs.
In January alone, the treatment for the said pests cost the Food and Housing of UO $9,000.
