It is always good to hear about stars backing-up eco-friendly events and going green themselves. And just recently, Jon Bon Jovi has been added to the list of those green celebrities as he gets behind an affordable and green housing facility.
A few days ago, the rock star, together with Cardinal Justin Rigali, Brian Hudson and Mayor Michael A. Nutter, announced the opening of the Conelly House. Basically, it is the first LEED-certified housing facility in the center of Philadelphia.
The facility, named after the founder of the Conelly Foundation, John F. and Josephine C. Conelly, is an eight-story building. It is with 79 single units, a laundry room, an exercise room, a number of kitchens, storage, lobby and even a multi-purpose room.
The affordable housing is deemed green primarily because of its environment-friendly components. It has a green roof, insulated walls, a rainwater collection system and high-efficiency mechanical and lighting systems.
