Bed bugs do not transfer diseases. Nevertheless, they sent a man from Virginia to a hospital over the weekend.
Robert Malcolm is a Hampton resident who has been staying in one of the city’s motel. But instead of a good night rest, he got bed bug bites from the place. The problem over the critters stressed him out worsening the condition of his already weakened heart, thus, the hospitalization.

According to Malcolm, he had been dealing with those pesky insects every night that he now has numerous scars from their bites. He stated that he had informed the motel about the problem several times but got no response. The management though countered that Malcolm never reported it and his room was just treated.

Nonetheless, other residents complained the same thing about the complex. The Hampton Health Department also said that those critters weren’t uncommon in the said motel as in 2011 and 2012, there were complaints about them as well.
