If you haven’t heard, bed bugs are now becoming book bugs. Recently, there were several reports of them hanging in libraries. And with the new school year coming in, more of them are expected to show up.
Bosler Memorial Library located in Carlisle doesn’t want to get caught off-guard by those crawlies. It implemented a number of steps to prevent the entry of those steps.

Signs of bed bugs in a number of materials returned prompted the library to take the preventive measures. It is now working with a pest-control company to address any bed bug issue in the facility. Moreover, its executive director, Jeffrey Swope, said that they were making sure the whole staff is trained to identify and deal with bed bugs.

However, Swope added that as of the moment, there is no serious bed bug issue in the library. The preventive steps, he said, were for the purpose of assuring the public that the facility is doing everything it can to prevent bed bugs.
In the case that a borrower returns a book with bed bugs though, assistant director, Melissa Killinger, said that he or she would have to provide proof that his or her home was treated for bed bug infestation. Only then would he or she be allowed to borrow again.
