Since their big comeback, bed bugs have been spotted everywhere. They were reportedly sighted in local hotels, libraries, stores, schools, offices and residences.
Recently, they were also discovered in a police department. And to get rid of them, 23 employees were evacuated.

In a report, the St. Louis Police Department was determined as the one infested by the vampire-like pests. Particularly, the critters infiltrated the “dispatchers’ area” of the city’s emergency communication center housed in the said department. That area, more specifically, is where the 911 calls are being received.
The police stated that the infestation was discovered when an employee noticed a bug on the area’s floor and killed it. But shortly after, it was added that another one showed up. So, after the confirmation that those two bugs were indeed bed bugs, exterminators were called in to treat the area.

Meanwhile, employees were transferred to a back-up location to continue receiving calls. And to prevent another bed bug incident, they were also asked not to bring blankets to work.
The dispatchers’ area was scheduled to reopen on Tuesday after the completion of a two-part bed bug treatment.

“It was 911 calling for help last week after employees of the city police Emergency Communications Center learned exactly what was crawling around them: bedbugs.
There were two to be precise, but it was enough to clear out 23 dispatchers and other workers Aug. 9 for about five hours so exterminators could do their work.”
