Black mold, also known as Stachybotrys chartarum, is linked with various health problems. So when a house in Brewer, Maine was discovered to be infested by it, city officials decided to demolish the residence.
According to a report, the house is owned by Debra L. Fogg. However, she only stays there from winter to spring. If not in there, she lives in various places, including area shelters.

The condition of the house is generally inhabitable said the city manager. Pictures of it revealed black mold taking over the house. It was on the walls, floors and ceiling. Besides it, it was said that the place was also littered with debris and dog and cat feces.
It was last fall when the poor condition of the house was noticed. And after the city was awarded access to it and was found to be a danger to the owner herself and her neighbors, it was decided that it would have to be destroyed.

The demolition, said the report, took place on Monday. Meanwhile, city officials were looking for new living arrangements for Fogg.
