Last week, Maxine Lewis Memorial Shelter at San Luis Obispo, California temporarily closed down. That’s no thanks to the bloodthirsty bed bugs. But according to a report, those crawlies didn’t have enough. They were back.
The closing of the shelter the previous week came after the presence of bed bugs was confirmed in one of the sections of the building. The whole place was then shut down for spraying and its sheets, towels and blankets were removed to be cleaned. On Friday, it was then reopened.
However, as it seems, the shelter’s actions to solve its first ever bed bug problem weren’t enough. It was again closed down due to another sighting of bed bugs.
The brown and tiny vampire-like insects were again found on Sunday on the same spot where the infestation was determined last week. But this time, no schedule of reopening was set yet. It was just said that the facility would close indefinitely until the critters are completely eradicated.
Meanwhile, occupants were again transferred back to Prado Day Center.

“The Maxine Lewis Memorial Shelter in San Luis Obispo is again closed because more bedbugs were found Sunday after an infestation last week.
Shelter staff discovered bedbugs July 8, according to Dee Torres, homeless services coordinator for Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo County. The 50-bed shelter was subsequently closed until the building, as well as hundreds of pounds of linens, could be sprayed and cleaned.”
