For the past few years, bed bugs have become so widespread. They were reported caught or sighted in almost every state. And as a way to keep them away, many turn to bed bug spray chemical-based pesticides for help. But could those products really provide aid? Will this be the answer on how to get rid of bed bugs?
The Problem With Bed Bugs and DDT
Some 50 or 60 years ago, DDT or dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane was the widely used insecticide to kill bed bugs and other harmful insects. And according to records, it was an effective solution to control the pests’ population. However, besides being effective, it was also destructive.

In 1962, it was suggested in a book published by Rachel Carson entitled Silent Spring that DDT could cause cancer. It also documented its other negative impacts to the environment, particularly, to birds. And as a result of the environmental awareness it created, DDT was banned.
However, in the absence of DDT, new chemicals were introduced to eliminate bed bugs. And enticed by the fast results that they promise to deliver, many bed bug victims are using them. But just like DDT, those chemicals pose risks to health and the environment. Worse is that they are not as effective as they used to be.
Based on a report about a recent study from the University of Kentucky, bed bugs have developed resistance to the common pesticides used on them. Basically, they developed harder exoskeleton and metabolic enzyme that break down the toxins to resist the chemical solutions.

Hence, if you continue to use conventional chemical-based pesticides to kill bed bugs, you would just waste your money and risk yours and your family’s health without successfully getting rid of the pests.
But if chemical-based insecticide is not the wise pick to eliminate those vampire-like insects, what, then should your choice of bed bug elimination method be? What else, but the opposite methods – the non-pesticide ways to eradicate them.

Bean Leaves
According to a recent report, another study has rediscovered one natural and effective technique to get rid of the pests. The said method was used several years ago by Eastern Europeans.

Published in the Journal of the Royal Society Inferface, the said bed bug elimination method basically refers to the use of bean leaves. The leaves were spread around the bed and used as traps to catch the pests. They have microscopic hairs called trichomes that hook bed bugs on their weakest parts, which is the back of their legs, thereby trapping them for good. And as archeologists have discovered, those used leaves were then burned to eliminate the pests for good.

“But a method used long ago provides an effective and non-toxic weapon against the pests, according to a U.S. study in the Journal of the Royal Society Interface. The authors looked into the once-common Eastern European practice of spreading bean leaves around a bed to control bedbugs. What they found was fascinating.
“During the night, bed bugs walking on the floor would accumulate on these bean leaves, which were collected and burned the following morning to exterminate the bed bugs.”

To provide a sustainable solution of bed bug elimination, the study focuses on replicating the structures of the leaves. But until the research is complete and the replication is successful, should you just let yourself infested by the pests? Of course not, right?

So how to get rid of bed bugs then?

Bed Bug Bully
Well, you could choose to hire bed bug exterminators for a bed bug heat treatment. As said by several bed bug victims, it is effective.
But know that the method would cost you at least $1000. Apart from that, the process takes time to finish as the infested area or room need to be exposed to a high temperature for a period of time to work.
If you are in a tight budget though, why not eliminate bed bugs with Bed Bug Bully instead? Like the ancient method of using bean leaves, it offers a non-toxic means to eliminate the pests. That’s because it is pesticide-exempt. In fact, EPA has already classified it as one under FIFRA 25(b).

But though gentle to health and the environment by being a non-pesticide spray, it is tough on bed bugs. It could even kill them in seconds. Several pest-control companies that have been saving thousands because of its help and hotels have proven that correct.
Actually, you could prove that yourself as well. Samples of Bed Bug Bully are now available for testing.
